The Village Church Organ

Along with a brand new sanctuary, the Village Church in Rancho Santa Fe has been blessed with a wonderful new organ. The instrument is a hybrid of a pipe organ (using both old pipes from the previous instrument and new pipes) and a state-of-the-art electronic organ.

Today, we had a public demonstration of the new instrument, featuring the renowned organist Jonas Nordwall. Here is a slideshow of this magnificent instrument.

Recording The Light

Our blog found itself a new name: RecordingTheLight.com

The term photography is based on two Greek words that mean “drawing with light”. You’ve heard this before, but photography and good photographs are all about the light.

Don’t worry, previous addresses (wolfgangbluhmphotography.wordpress.com or wolfgangbluhmphotography.com) will still work, but now you no longer have to remember oddly spelled German names!

So, spread the word about RecordingTheLight.com!

San Diego Supercomputer Center, Part 2

As the promised second part of the blog entry on the San Diego Supercomputer Center’s 25th anniversary celebrations, here is a slideshow with a representative cross-section of the types of shots I took. All in all, I delivered 143 photos. If you really want to see them all, you may do so here.

San Diego Supercomputer Center, Part 1

Today I photographed the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC) for about 5 hours. I processed a few of the shots right away (the rest will follow in about a week) since they are planning on a press release tomorrow morning.

So, here is a first installment with a few of the better known researchers in attendance: Sid Karin, who was the first director of SDSC, Fran Berman, the second director, Mike Norman, the current (third) director, Tsutomu Shimomura, Richard Atkinson, Marye Anne Fox, and Larry Smarr.

Foundation for His Ministry

Finally, I have emerged from the dark depths of Judge Mortimer Harshly’s stage evilness, and hope to be back in the light with more photography.

About 15 years ago, I spent a year as a full-time volunteer at the orphanage and mission of Foundation for His Ministry in Vicente Guerrero, Baja California, about 4 hours south of the US/Mexico border. Yesterday, I spent most of the day scanning some old slides I took there. You can read much more about the marvelous work going on at this ministry at www.ffhm.org.

Here is a small selection from the scanned slides:
